Coffee plantation

Cuba

Ay, caramba! Buckle up, because we're diving into the world of Cuban coffee, the little black dress of caffeine that has attitude.

Meet Cuba's coffee legends:

Sierra Maestra Arabica - The Mountain Classic

Grown in Cuba's rugged eastern mountains at 800-1200 metres, these beans deliver a smooth, full-bodied cup with earthy undertones, mild sweetness, and almost zero bitterness. The volcanic soil and misty altitude create a flavour that's unmistakably Cuban.

Crystal Mountain (Cristal de la Montana) - The Crown Jewel

Cuba's answer to Jamaica Blue Mountain. Handpicked at high altitude in the Escambray range, these large, perfectly formed beans produce a clean, bright cup with delicate floral notes and a silky chocolate finish. Extremely rare and highly sought after.

Cubita - The People's Coffee

The iconic everyday Cuban coffee. Dark-roasted, bold, and unapologetically strong. This is the blend that fuels Havana's mornings and late-night conversations. Sweet, smoky, and impossible to forget once you've tasted the real thing.

Why It's More Than Coffee — It's Cuban Culture

Started in the 1700s... French refugees... Cuba was once a coffee powerhouse exporter in the 1940s!

Post-revolution, beans got scarce → people got creative (mixing with chickpeas... yes, really), but the love for cafecito never died.

Today it's social rocket fuel: tiny cups passed around doorsteps, windows, parks, workplaces.

"Vamos a tomar un café" = official invitation to chat, flirt, complain, celebrate, or solve world problems in 5 minutes flat.

Want to Make It at Home and Feel Like a Cuban Abuela?

The Setup Grab a moka pot. Pack it with dark-roast espresso-ground coffee — we got some from the Sierra Maestra Mountains.
The Espumita Magic In a tiny cup, put 1–2 tablespoons demerara/raw sugar. When the first few dark drops come out, pour a bit into the sugar, WHIP VIGOROUSLY like your life depends on it until you get thick, light-brown espumita (arm workout included).
The Grand Finale Pour the rest of the brew over it, stir gently. Sip sloooowly (or chug dramatically for full drama points).

Because nothing says "¡vamos!" like proper Cuban coffee
